Medicaid Program Improvement Act

Medicaid Program Improvement Act would require states to modernize and regularly verify the addresses of people enrolled in Medicaid (and in CHIP, by referencing the same provision). Starting January 1, 2026, states must obtain enrollees’ address information from reliable data sources described in federal regulations and act on changes to addresses. The bill also adds a requirement that managed care organizations (which administer much of Medicaid care in many states) transmit to the state any address information they receive or verify for enrollees.
