Taiwan International Solidarity Act

The Taiwan International Solidarity Act would amend the Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act of 2019 to strengthen U.S. efforts defending Taiwan’s status and participation in international organizations against pressure from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Key changes include clarifying the status of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 (XXVI), requiring U.S. officials to actively use the voice and influence of the United States to resist PRC distortions in international bodies, and urging U.S. allies and partners to join in opposing PRC efforts to undermine Taiwan’s diplomatic relationships. The bill also expands reporting requirements to cover PRC attempts to promote its “One China” position and any impact on Taiwan’s membership or observer status in relevant organizations, beginning with the first report after enactment. Overall, it aims to harden U.S. and allied posture in defense of Taiwan’s international standing.
