Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Reauthorization Act

This bill, the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Reauthorization Act, would reauthorize and fund the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant program. Specifically, it amends 49 U.S.C. section 24911(h) to authorize the Secretary of Transportation to receive an annual appropriation of $7.5 billion for each fiscal year from 2027 through 2031 to carry out the program, with the funds remaining available until expended. It also allows up to 2% of those annual amounts to be used for project management oversight. In short, the bill provides multiyear, substantial funding to support state–federal collaboration on intercity passenger rail projects, including planning, capital improvements, and service enhancements, administered by the federal Department of Transportation.
