Criminal History Access Act of 2025

The Criminal History Access Act of 2025 would authorize state peace officer standards and training agencies (POST agencies) to access criminal history records to help evaluate and maintain the certification, licensing, or retention of law enforcement officers. It expands who may receive criminal history information under existing law by explicitly including POST agencies in the list of entities that can obtain such records. The bill defines POST agencies and clarifies that “State” includes U.S. states and several U.S. territories and districts.
