Veterans’ Security and Pay Transparency Act

This bill, the Veterans’ Security and Pay Transparency Act, would add a new annual reporting requirement to Title 38 of the U.S. Code. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must detail, each year, how much is paid to VA police officers, broken down by VA facility and by specific job classifications. The report would cover base salaries, availability pay (a federal pay enhancement for certain law enforcement personnel), recruitment/retention bonuses, and any other compensation. The first report would be due within six months of enactment, and the information would be submitted to the Senate and House Committees on Veterans’ Affairs. The intent is to increase transparency and oversight of pay for VA police and security personnel without changing pay levels themselves.
