Providing for congressional disapproval of the proposed foreign military sale to the Government of the United Arab Emirates of certain defense articles and services.

This joint resolution, H.J. Res. 97, would block the proposed foreign military sale to the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) described in Transmittal No. 24-118. Specifically, it prohibits the sale of six CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters with air-to-air refuel capability and extended-range fuel tanks, along with related defense articles and services listed in the transmittal (engines, GPS/INS devices with M-Code, CMWS, COMSEC radios, and M-240 machine guns). The measure is framed as congressional disapproval of the sale under the Arms Export Control Act (AECA). Introduced in the House on May 15, 2025 by Rep. Meeks (for himself and Rep. Jacobs), it has been referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs. If enacted, the sale would be prohibited unless amended or overturned through the legislative process.
