Healthy Food Financing Initiative Reauthorization Act of 2025
Healthy Food Financing Initiative Reauthorization Act of 2025 would amend the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 to reauthorize the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) and provide it with mandatory funding. The bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture to use funds from the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) to carry out the HFFI, setting specific annual funding amounts beginning in fiscal year 2026 and continuing thereafter. The intent is to guarantee steady, predictable support for financing projects that expand access to healthy foods in underserved communities, such as grocery stores, farmers markets, and other healthy-food ventures, with the goal of improving nutrition options and supporting local economic development. The bill was introduced by Representative Brown (joined by Representative Evans of Pennsylvania) and referred to the House Committee on Agriculture.
