Protecting First Responders from Secondary Exposure Act of 2025

Protecting First Responders from Secondary Exposure Act of 2025 would amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to authorize using grant funds for two specific activities: (1) providing training and resources to first responders on the use of containment devices designed to prevent secondary exposure to fentanyl and other potentially lethal substances, and (2) purchasing such containment devices for use by first responders. The aim is to reduce the risk that responders are exposed to fentanyl or similar hazards when working at crime scenes, medical emergencies, or other dangerous incidents. The bill makes this new purpose part of the existing grant programs authorized by the 1968 Act by inserting it as a permitted use of grant funds.
