See the Board Act
The See the Board Act would create a federal grant program administered by the Department of Health and Human Services to expand access to free eye care for students in public elementary and secondary schools. Eligible nonprofit organizations could receive grants to purchase portable or mobile eye care equipment and cover operating costs (including personal protective equipment and care delivery costs) to run mobile eye clinics that provide screenings, exams, and on-site glasses at schools. The program envisions optometrists, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic technicians, and optical dispensaries working at schools to deliver these services. Funding would be authorized as necessary for fiscal years 2026 through 2031, with a Congressional emphasis on informing students and parents about the importance of regular vision screening and eye exams.
