To amend title 10, United States Code, to improve the process by which the Secretary of Defense verifies that health care professionals of the military departments are appropriately licensed.

This bill would tighten and streamline how the Department of Defense verifies that health care professionals working at DoD health facilities are properly licensed. It requires the Secretary of Defense to create a centralized credentialing system that enables any DoD facility to verify a health-care professional’s licensure, no matter where the facility or branch they serve is located. It also establishes a performance standard aiming for quick verification: at least 90% of licensure verifications must be completed within seven days of a commanding officer’s verification request, provided the professional does not have an adverse record. The goal is to reduce delays in staffing licensed clinicians and ensure compliance with licensure requirements across the military health system.
