Make Autorail Great Again Act

This bill, introduced as H.R. 3660 and titled the Make Autorail Great Again Act, would block any federal funding to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) until the WMATA Compact is amended to rename the agency and its rail system. Specifically, it would require WMATA to be renamed the “Washington Metropolitan Authority for Greater Access” (or abbreviated as WMAGA) and the Metrorail to be renamed the “Trump Train.” The bill treats the WMATA Compact (the governance agreement among federal, state, and local participants) as the framework that must be amended before any federal funds can be provided. In short, federal support would be conditioned on a branding/name change tied to a politically branded proposal.
