Global Alzheimer’s Initiative Now Act
This bill, titled the Global Alzheimer’s Initiative Now Act, would authorize United States participation in the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative (DAC), a public-private-patient alliance focused on accelerating global efforts to prevent, diagnose, and treat Alzheimer's disease and dementia. It frames DAC as a vehicle to lead international cooperation, develop diagnostics and treatments for diverse populations, and foster alignment with U.S. global health and development programs. The bill designates a U.S. representative to participate in DAC’s advisory council (and possibly its board), coordinates with USAID, the State Department, and the HHS Secretary, and authorizes U.S. contributions to DAC under the Foreign Assistance Act with a matching requirement. It also imposes a governance and funding reporting duty on the President to brief Congress on planned contributions, governance participation, and alignment with U.S. strategies, with an emphasis on leveraging private and non-U.S. funds and capping U.S. share at 33% from 2026 to 2030. In short, the bill seeks to formalize U.S. involvement in DAC as a tool for global health leadership on Alzheimer’s and dementia, while tying funding to non-U.S. sources and requiring ongoing congressional reporting on choices and impact.
