Pride In Mental Health Act of 2025
The Pride In Mental Health Act of 2025 would amend the Public Health Service Act to create and fund a grants program aimed at improving mental health outcomes for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. The program would provide grants to eligible entities to offer youth-focused mental health and crisis resources, train caregivers in cultural competency, develop and share resources, collect data, and promote LGBTQ+-affirming practices in schools and communities. It also restricts the use of grant funds to prohibit conversion therapy and requires federal reporting and data collection to better understand the mental health needs of LGBTQ+ youth, including those in foster care or receiving other federal services. An annual appropriation of $20 million is authorized for 2026–2030 to support these activities. In short, the bill seeks to expand access to affirming, evidence-based mental health care for LGBTQ+ youth, improve school and community supports, and build a clearer evidence base while explicitly banning conversion therapy in federally funded programs.
