FORCE-FIT Act

The FORCE-FIT Act would require the Department of Defense to run a five-year pilot program under TRICARE to give selected active-duty service members continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology. The goal is to track real-time metabolic health and use early intervention to improve individual health and overall force readiness. Participation would be mandatory for service members who the Department identifies as Partially Medically Ready or Not Medically Ready under the Individual Medical Readiness program. The bill places strict limits on how health data collected through CGMs can be used, requiring that data stay within approved purposes (pilot administration, medical care, and IMR) and prohibiting use for medical board separations or non-governmental retention or use. The program includes training for medical staff, education and services for participants, and comprehensive reporting to Congress, with a full evaluation of effectiveness and considerations on extending the program.
