Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act

The Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act would require the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop and share resources to help small businesses use artificial intelligence. These resources—subject to available funding—could include standards, best practices, benchmarks, methodologies, and practical case studies to aid understanding, adoption, and integration of AI. The resources must be broadly usable by small businesses, technology-neutral, and aligned with international voluntary standards and existing federal frameworks (such as the NIST risk management framework and cybersecurity education programs). NIST would periodically review and update the resources, disseminate them in coordination with the Small Business Administration (SBA) through SBA resource partners, and keep use voluntary. A report to Congress would be due within four years detailing the resources, user feedback, and suggestions for further actions.
