Line 5 Act

Line 5 Act is a narrowly drawn bill that would require the President or any person authorized to act for the President (a designee) to comply with the US-Canada Agreement Concerning Transit Pipelines from 1977. The short title is the “Line 5 Act.” In practice, the bill would codify that executive actions cannot violate the terms of the 1977 treaty (TIAS 8720), and it would override other laws only to ensure treaty compliance.
