No War Against Iran Act

The No War Against Iran Act would prevent the use of federal funds for any military force against Iran unless Congress has either declared war or enacted specific statutory authorization after the bill’s enactment that complies with the War Powers Resolution (WPR). It makes clear that existing authorizations for other conflicts (and pre-enactment laws) cannot be read to authorize action against Iran. The bill also preserves a limited exception for force that is fully consistent with the War Powers Resolution, and it allows the President to act in self-defense or to defend U.S. allies only if Congress authorizes such use of force under WPR rules.
