Abducted Ukrainian Children Recovery and Accountability Act
The Abducted Ukrainian Children Recovery and Accountability Act would boost United States support to identify, locate, and recover Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, and to pursue accountability for those responsible. It_authorizes interagency cooperation (Justice, State, Homeland Security) to provide technical assistance to Ukraine and to advance rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for returned children. It also creates or strengthens capacity for justice and accountability, including involvement of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group and U.S. DOJ programs, and it directs reporting on U.S. assistance and on aligning sanctions. The bill would authorize use of Russian sovereign assets held in the United States to fund these activities. Overall, it expands U.S. government and non-governmental support for investigations, rehabilitation, and prosecutions related to abducted Ukrainian children, while increasing congressional oversight.
