Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2025
The Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S. 2120) would reauthorize and modernize the Older Americans Act of 1965, authorizing federal appropriations for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 and making a wide range of updates to aging programs. The bill expands efforts to improve health outcomes (including mental health, substance use disorders, and cognitive impairments), strengthens coordination within the aging network and with disability communities, enhances nutrition services (notably medically tailored and grab-and-go meals), and broadens supports for family caregivers, Native elders, and long-term care oversight. It also establishes new governance mechanisms, increases transparency (such as publishing a list of national resource centers), and requires a White House Conference on Aging to set policy directions and recommendations. In short, the bill pushes for more integrated, data-driven, and youth-to-elder inclusive aging programs, with added emphasis on health promotion, caregiver support, technology and assistive services, and stronger federal coordination with state, local, tribal, and disability partners.
