Fairness in Vineyard Data Act

The Fairness in Vineyard Data Act would require the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) to gather and publicly share grape production data. Within one year of enactment, NASS must conduct a survey of grape production in every state, collecting total acreage, production, utilization, and acreage broken out by type, variety, county, and year planted, and publish the results on NASS’s website. Within two years and then annually for the next three years, NASS must publish data on the five states with the highest grape production in the preceding year, using data from the initial survey. The bill provides specific funding: $2.5 million for FY2026 to conduct the survey and initial publication, and $1.5 million for each of FY2027–FY2030 to support the ongoing publication of data for the top-five states. The aim is to increase transparency and accessibility of grape production information for stakeholders such as growers, researchers, and policymakers.
