SNAP E&T Data And Technical Assistance (DATA) Act of 2025
The SNAP E&T Data And Technical Assistance (DATA) Act of 2025 would authorize the Department of Agriculture to award competitive grants to state agencies to build and strengthen longitudinal data systems for SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) programs. The goal is to improve program quality, reduce administrative burden, advance equity, protect privacy, and increase transparency by linking SNAP E&T data with other federal workforce and education data (such as WIOA and career/technical education programs). The bill provides $15 million annually (2026–2030) and allows up to 20% of that for technical assistance. Grants are intended to supplement—not replace—state funding, and there are strict privacy and security requirements. The act also requires annual reporting to Congress and directs a Government Accountability Office (GAO) review within a year of funding to assess implementation, best practices, and data-sharing approaches, with recommendations to improve the program.
