Lanier Parks Local Access Act

The Lanier Parks Local Access Act would modify how funds from user fees collected at recreation sites within a civil works project can be used. Specifically, it changes the scope of the Challenge Cost-Sharing Program under the Water Resources Development Act of 1992. Instead of allowing use of those fees only at the single recreation site where the fee is collected, the bill would permit use at any recreation site or facility located within the same civil works project. In short, it broadens the geographic set of recreation sites that can benefit from the collected fees, within the same project, potentially enabling more flexible maintenance, improvements, and access enhancements across multiple sites.
