Protections and Transparency in the Workplace Act
Protections and Transparency in the Workplace Act would amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to impose new reporting, training, and investigation requirements on public companies. Specifically, it adds “covered discrimination and harassment” (including sexual harassment and sexual assault or abuse) to the range of issues subject to disclosure and training. Public issuers would have to disclose detailed information about discrimination and harassment claims in annual and quarterly reports, implement independent third-party investigations for such claims, provide mandatory training (including bystander training), and establish a whistleblower tip line. The bill also requires attestations from senior leaders and directors that the company complies with these rules. The aim is to improve transparency around workplace misconduct and to strengthen prevention and response mechanisms within public companies.
