GIVE MILK Act
The GIVE MILK Act would amend the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 to give individuals participating in the WIC program the option to receive different types of milk. Specifically, participants (or their parent/guardian) could elect to be issued nonfat milk, low-fat milk, reduced-fat milk, or whole milk, and the Secretary of Agriculture would be required to issue the elected milk. The bill also requires the Agriculture Department to revise related regulations to implement this change. The sponsor frames the bill within a nutrition-focused rationale, noting that dairy products provide essential nutrients and that current guidance on milk types has been debated; the bill aims to improve dairy intake by expanding consumer choice within WIC. The bill is titled the Giving Increased Variety to Ensure Milk Into the Lives of Kids Act (GIVE MILK Act). It would require regulatory updates (notably to 7 C.F.R. 246.10) to reflect the new election option and would be introduced in the 119th Congress (introduced July 23, 2025, by Rep. Thompson of Pennsylvania and Rep. Deluzio).
