Corporate Crime Database Act of 2025

The Corporate Crime Database Act of 2025 would require the Director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) to create a public, searchable database tracking enforcement actions related to corporate offenses by federal agencies. The database would collect information about business entities and individuals involved, their employers and parent companies, the type of offense, applicable statutes, the federal agencies involved, outcomes (including settlements or non-prosecution deals), and a unique identifier for each party. It would cover enforcement actions both current and past to the extent data are available. The act also obligates federal agencies to provide the collected data, with a timeline for guidance and reporting, and it mandates annual congressional reports analyzing the data and offering policy recommendations to improve monitoring, deterrence, and responses to corporate offenses. Additionally, it expands duties of the Chief Data Officer Council to identify ways to improve collection, digitization, sharing, and standardization of corporate-offense information.
