Safe Schools and Communities Act of 2025

The Safe Schools and Communities Act of 2025 would create a federal grant program administered by the Department of Education to help local educational agencies (LEAs) enhance school safety. Within 120 days of enactment, the Secretary would award competitive grants to LEAs to train school personnel who interact with students weekly and to implement specialized curricula or materials focused on human trafficking risk factors and indicators, fentanyl/drug abuse prevention, and gang prevention—with an emphasis on connecting students to local resources. The funding would cover training costs (instructor fees, materials, etc.) and require the adoption or development of targeted curricula and programs. The act would also amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to accommodate these grants within the existing funding framework.
