Apeel Reveal Act of 2025

The Apeel Reveal Act of 2025 would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require labeling on fruits and vegetables that have coatings applied to extend their shelf life. The bill defines a "covered product coating" to include any coating directly applied to produce for shelf-life extension, explicitly naming Apeel Sciences coatings such as Edipeel and Organipeel. Producers and retailers would need to disclose the use of such coatings on product labels. The Secretary of Health and Human Services (FDA) would issue guidance within 180 days to explain how the disclosure should be presented, and the labeling requirement would apply to fruits and vegetables labeled one year after enactment. Misbranding provisions would apply to noncompliant labeling.
