CARING for Our Veterans Health Act of 2025
CARING for Our Veterans Health Act of 2025 would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to act on recommendations aimed at improving care delivered through community providers (non-VA providers paid or authorized by VA). Specifically, the Under Secretary for Health must ensure the VA’s Office of Integrated Veteran Care (or its successor) develops guidance on obtaining final medical documentation from community providers after a veteran’s referral, sets and monitors goals for collecting initial and final documentation, and establishes training requirements for community care providers (including ensuring that providers complete required trainings). The office and any contractors must also communicate clearly to providers about which trainings are recommended or required. The bill also mandates regular progress reporting to Congress: every 120 days from enactment until all requirements are fully implemented.
