Health Care Fairness for Military Families Act of 2025
The Health Care Fairness for Military Families Act of 2025 would modify the TRICARE Young Adult Program by expanding who is eligible and by removing a separate premium charged for young adult coverage. Specifically, it revises the eligibility rules in the TRICARE Young Adult section of title 10 to remove a current restriction and renumbers the related subsections. It also eliminates the separate premium that previously applied to TRICARE Young Adult coverage. A conforming amendment adjusts a cross-reference in another part of the U.S. Code to reflect the change. The overall aim is to make health coverage for dependent young adults easier to obtain and less costly for military families, by broadening access and removing a distinct TYAP premium. In short, more dependent young adults could qualify for TRICARE coverage, and families would no longer pay a separate TYAP premium, with cross-referencing updated accordingly.
