Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience Authorization Act
The Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience Authorization Act would require the Department of Defense (DoD), with the State Department, to create and run a security cooperation initiative called the “Partnership.” This program aims to bolster cooperation among the United States and allied/partner countries’ defense industrial bases in the Indo-Pacific region. Its goals include ensuring the production and supply of material needed to equip the U.S. military and its allies, strengthening industrial capacity and resilience, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, advancing joint R&D and co-production, and promoting innovation, standardization, and information sharing. The act also establishes leadership, participation rules, authorities for engagement, reporting requirements, and a sunset (termination) date of December 31, 2030. In short, the bill seeks to formalize an ongoing, multi-country effort to make defense supply chains more secure, interoperable, and innovative through cooperation, capacity building, and potential joint production or development activities.
