Promoting Rural Exports Act of 2025
The Promoting Rural Exports Act of 2025 would create a National Rural Export Center within the U.S. Commercial Service (part of the Commerce Department) and up to nine regional rural export centers. The aim is to provide rural U.S. businesses with targeted, market-specific help to export their products, addressing barriers created by geography and distance from major information and transport hubs. The National Center would be established within 180 days, located at an existing Commercial Service office (with a preference for offices that already support rural exporters and are not in big metropolitan areas), and staff would be primarily based there. Regional centers would be set up within one year and would operate under the oversight of the National Center. Operations would focus on in-depth, customized market research and export planning, allowing businesses to opt in for services. The centers would track performance through concrete metrics, including how many businesses sign up for market research, how many export-support services are used (like trade shows and missions), and the total value of exports facilitated. Each center would maintain a public website with data, best practices, and staff contact information.
