Senior Savings Protection Act
The Senior Savings Protection Act would extend funding for outreach and assistance aimed at helping low-income individuals, particularly older adults, understand and access federal and state benefits. Specifically, it adds new multi-year funding authorizations (2026–2030) for four programs tied to the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008: State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP), Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs), and a coordination effort to inform older Americans about available benefits. The new funding levels are set per fiscal year and are added as additional clauses under each program’s authorizing statute. In short, the bill seeks to maintain and increase the capacity of existing aging and benefits outreach networks to help low-income seniors navigate health insurance, aging services, and related benefits through explicit annual funding through 2030.
