Homeowner Energy Freedom Act
Homeowner Energy Freedom Act would repeal three major subsidies from the Inflation Reduction Act (Public Law 117-169) that were aimed at home electrification and related activities. Specifically, it repeals: - The high-efficiency electric home rebate program (Section 50122), - State-based home energy efficiency contractor training grants (Section 50123), - Assistance for adopting the latest and zero building energy codes (Section 50131). It also rescinds any unobligated funds remaining under Sections 50122 and 50131 as of the day before enactment and modifies Section 50121(c)(7) to remove mention of rebates from the high-efficiency electric home rebate program. In short, the bill would end federal subsidies and related funding for home electrification upgrades, contractor training, and building energy-code adoption, and would claw back unused funds from those programs.
