Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment Act of 2025
The Uterine Fibroid Intervention and Gynecological Health Treatment Act of 2025 would authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award grants to states to boost early detection of uterine fibroids and to support intervention efforts. It also directs the Secretary to conduct and support research to develop evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies for improving early detection in health care settings, and to disseminate those strategies to grant recipients. In addition to detection and intervention, the bill funds public awareness campaigns and requires uptake of screening procedures (including advanced gynecological imaging), patient navigation services, and efforts to facilitate access to care. The legislation also authorizes grants for research related to uterine fibroids, specifically addressing disparities in pain control and management in fibroid surgical treatment, and exploring Asherman’s syndrome and intrauterine adhesions (intrauterine conditions). It requires regular reporting to Congress—every two years after initial grant awards—summarizing program results and ongoing research findings, with these reports publicly available. The overall aim is to improve early detection, equitable access to care, and understanding of related gynecological conditions.
