Lactation Spaces for Veteran Moms Act

This bill would require every Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical center to provide a lactation space. The space must be a private, hygienic area (not a bathroom) that is shielded from view, free from intrusion, accessible to people with disabilities, includes a chair and a working surface, is easy to locate, clearly signed, and available for use by women veterans and members of the public to express breast milk. It also specifies that no one can enter VA facilities or parts of them without proper authorization, and it adds the new provision to the federal code (38 U.S.C.). The VA would need to implement these spaces within two years of enactment, and the bill includes a clerical update to the code to reflect the new section.
