Protecting American Jobs Act
The Protecting American Jobs Act would restructure how the National Labor Relations Act is enforced and rule‑made. It narrows the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) role by limiting its rulemaking to internal matters only and removing the Board’s authority to issue or prosecute complaints, as well as its ability to define unfair labor practices and run representation elections through regulations. Instead, the bill shifts enforcement away from the NLRB toward private civil actions in federal courts, allowing individuals who allege unfair labor practices to sue for relief (including injunctions) in district courts. It also requires a comprehensive review and revision of existing regulations to align with these changes within six months of enactment. Overall, the bill moves from a centralized, agency-driven enforcement model to a more private, court‑based enforcement framework and drastically narrows the NLRB’s regulatory reach.
