Commemorating the continuation of the semicentennial of hip hop and designating August 11, 2025, as "Hip Hop Celebration Day", designating August 2025 as "Hip Hop Recognition Month", and designating November 2025 as "Hip Hop History Month".

This is a non-binding House Resolution that commemorates the ongoing semicentennial (50-year milestone) of hip hop and designates three ceremonial observances: August 11, 2025 as Hip Hop Celebration Day; August 2025 as Hip Hop Recognition Month; and November 2025 as Hip Hop History Month. The resolution recounts hip hop’s origins in the Bronx (noting the August 11, 1973 “Back To School Jam” by Clive “DJ Kool Herc” Campbell) and highlights hip hop’s evolution into a global cultural phenomenon with artistic, economic, and social impact. It calls on Congress to recognize and support activities related to this milestone and encourages local governments to partner with hip hop communities and other creative arts sectors in the celebration. As a ceremonial measure, the resolution does not authorize new programs or allocate funds. It serves to acknowledge the cultural significance of hip hop, encourage commemorative activities, and promote collaboration between federal, state, and local governments and hip hop communities.
