Camden National Battlefield Park Study Act

The Camden National Battlefield Park Study Act would require the Secretary of the Interior to carry out a special resource study of the Camden Battlefield area in South Carolina to evaluate whether it should become a unit of the National Park System. The Study Area includes the site of the Battle of Camden (August 16, 1780) and related Revolutionary War resources, plus Historic Camden. The study would assess national significance, the suitability and feasibility of designating the area as the Camden National Battlefield Park, and how it could be protected and interpreted by federal, state, local, or private entities; it would also explore a local partnership management model and estimate costs for potential federal development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance. A final report with results and recommendations would be due within three years after funds are first made available. The act does not itself authorize funding or designate a unit, but it initiates the process that could lead to designation.
