Psychiatric Hospital Inspection Transparency Act of 2025
The Psychiatric Hospital Inspection Transparency Act of 2025 would expand Medicare-related transparency around accreditation and surveys for psychiatric hospitals. It requires national accreditation bodies to include CMS’ survey form (CMS-2567) or its successor in accreditation surveys and to help develop a standardized form to aid health care consumers in choosing where to receive care. Beginning two years after enactment, the Act would also make certain psychiatric hospital survey information publicly available on the CMS Care Compare website, with ongoing updates. Privacy protections are included to prevent disclosing patient identities or individual health care providers’ identities, and disclosures would be limited to information permitted by HIPAA. In short, the bill aims to increase public visibility into psychiatric hospitals’ accreditation and survey results, while balancing privacy and consumer information needs.
