SANCTIONS in the West Bank Act
SANCTIONS in the West Bank Act codifies, into statute, the United States’ sanctions regime currently described in Executive Order 14115 that targets individuals and entities deemed to undermine peace, security, and stability in the West Bank. The bill also reinstates sanctions that were revoked by EO 14148. In short, it makes the sanctions bedrock policy—permanent unless the President takes specific, congressionally guided steps to lift them—and sets out a formal process for terminating sanctions tied to a person’s behavior. The act further defines who oversees such actions (the relevant congressional committees) and requires the President to provide advance notice to those committees before lifting sanctions, with tighter timing in urgent cases.
