Larry Barrett Veterans’ Memory Care Act of 2025
Larry Barrett Veterans’ Memory Care Act of 2025 amends the Veterans Community Care Program in Title 38 to (1) add veteran preferences and caregiver needs as factors in determining extended care services for a limited 3-year window after enactment, and (2) create an expedited 30-day approval process for certain Veterans Care Agreements, including provision of in-home care during the approval window. The bill also emphasizes continuity of care for veterans receiving extended care and narrows geographic access barriers by prioritizing veterans who prefer non-VA providers or who live far from eligible VA providers. In short, it aims to give veterans more control over where and how they receive extended care and to speed up access to approved community-based care when travel barriers exist.
