POLL Act

The POLL Act (People Over Long Lines Act) would significantly overhaul aspects of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to reduce or eliminate long lines in federal elections. It envisions a nationwide standard that no voter should wait more than 30 minutes at a polling place, supported by mandated state plans, resource requirements, and federal funding. The bill would also create a private right of action for individuals harmed by long waits, establish post-election reviews and remedial plans for jurisdictions with excessive delays, require emergency paper ballots during delays, set minimums for voting systems and poll workers, and restrict campaign activities by top state election officials. In short, it aims to make voting faster, more predictable, and better funded, with stronger enforcement mechanisms.
