SBA Fraud Enforcement Extension Act

H.R. 4495, the SBA Fraud Enforcement Extension Act, would dramatically extend the time limit for bringing fraud prosecutions or civil enforcement actions related to two pandemic-relief programs: the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF). For each program, the bill adds a new statute of limitations of 10 years from the date of the alleged violation or conspiracy, applying to a defined list of federal criminal offenses and False Claims Act-type civil penalties. The measure expressly overrides any other law to set this 10-year deadline. It is currently introduced and referred to the Small Business Committee, with additional sponsors noted, but has not become law.
