Safe Embassies Act

The Safe Embassies Act would amend the Diplomatic Security Act to require that when the United States decides to re-open a diplomatic post that is designated as high risk and high threat, Congress must receive a notification that includes a detailed explanation of the national security value of reopening that post. In short, it adds a specific justification requirement to congressional notifications to ensure lawmakers understand the national security rationale behind reopening dangerous embassies or missions.
