Water Crisis Prevention Act of 2025
Water Crisis Prevention Act of 2025 requires the Comptroller General (GAO) to conduct a one-time review of federal funding available through FEMA that states, localities, individuals, and small businesses can access after a water infrastructure failure (for example, a water main break). The review must be completed within six months of enactment. The resulting GAO report should include recommendations on (1) how federal entities can partner with states to identify areas at greatest risk of future water-infrastructure disasters, and (2) how Congress could provide funding to reduce or mitigate disasters by addressing the most vulnerable water systems. The bill does not create new funding or programs itself; it directs oversight and guidance to inform future policy.
