Make America's Youth Healthy Again Act of 2025
This bill would create a new President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition (the Council) to advise the President and recommend actions to improve youth health, fitness, and nutrition. It envisions reestablishing and modernizing the framework of a national fitness effort by reviving the concept of the Presidential Fitness Test as the main measure for a Presidential Fitness Award, and by promoting school-based programs, youth sports participation, and broad national and local strategies to foster an active lifestyle and good nutrition. The Council would be appointed by the President, serve up to 30 members for 2-year terms (eligible for reappointment), and operate with support from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other federal agencies. The bill imposes a 2-year sunset (unless extended) and would update the legacy seal of the former President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Overall, the measure positions youth health, fitness, and nutrition as a national priority and ties it to national security concerns related to obesity and sedentary lifestyles.
